The Dunedin Optical Lab is 100% locally owned. Our team has over 20 years of experience in the optical industry and is committed to providing a fast, high-quality service to Dunedin. We offer in house lens fitting, frames, glasses repairs, and more
Our names are Eddie and Karen. We have recently opened Dunedin Optical Lab. We believe Dunedin is missing some services in the Optical Industry that used to be here for many decades. We feel there is a great need for a Same Day Service for glasses lenses at competitive prices. We are both local Dunedinites and have a passion for helping people. Our values are honesty, caring for our customers and supplying a prompt, efficient, affordable product for you all. We will do our very best as we have done for our customers over the past twenty years and we hope you will come and see us and support our new venture.

If you are interested in how glasses are made here is some information about the equipment that we have in our Lab.
This is the Vertometer. If you do not have your prescription with you we can measure your glasses script in this machine.
This is the Tracer. It traces the shape of each frame and sends those details to the Edger.
The Edger. You can see a lens sitting in the machine. All lenses start as a round disc. Once the edger receives the information of the shape of the frame water sprays on the lens and a wheel grinds the lens down to the shape it has been told. Eddie then fits the lens into your frame and your glasses are ready to wear.
